Green Travel Plans

Our Green Travel Plans (GTPs) are designed to promote and facilitate sustainable transport options, reduce reliance on private vehicles, and mitigate the environmental impact of travel. They focus on encouraging alternative modes of transport and improving overall accessibility. Here’s what they generally involve:

  1. Objectives and Goals: Establishing clear goals for reducing car use, increasing the use of public transport, cycling, and walking, and minimising environmental impacts.

  2. Assessment: Analysing current travel patterns and transportation needs for a particular site and land use.

  3. Strategies and Measures: Developing and implementing measures to support sustainable travel, which may include:

    • Enhancing access and awareness of public transport options.

    • Providing facilities for cycling and walking, such as end-of-trip facilities, bike parking devices and pedestrian pathways.

    • Offering incentives for carpooling or using alternative transport modes.

    • Promoting flexible working arrangements or staggered work hours to reduce peak-time congestion.

  4. Implementation: Coordinating the roll-out of the planned measures, which may involve collaboration with local authorities, transport providers, and other stakeholders.

  5. Monitoring and Review: Regularly assessing the effectiveness of the travel plan and making adjustments as needed based on feedback and changing conditions.

  6. Promotion and Engagement: Educating and encouraging the community or employees about the benefits of sustainable travel options and how to use them effectively.

GTPs are often required as part of the planning process for new developments, particularly for developments that provide low provisions of on-site car parking. Our Green Travel Plans (GTPs) are tailored to meet the unique needs of your development, supporting a more sustainable future and improving your likelihood of obtaining planning approval for a car parking reduction.
